All parents
and carers of
children who attend the school are automatically members of The Friends of
Lindal & Marton Primary School, the aim of which is to foster good
relationships between home and school. The Friends is very active in raising
funds for the school, and in organising special events for pupils,
friends and families.
Fundraising
The Friends organises the sale of new and second-hand school uniforms for
pupils. They donate funds to
the school for many purposes, including book bags, maths games, construction
toys, furniture, a water cooler,
a fridge, and sports equipment. They have paid for tree-planting,
fencing, garden benches, play equipment, bins, and other improvements to the school playground, garden and
playing field.
Events
The Friends organises various social and fundraising activities, such
as a lottery, plant fairs, beetle drives, raffles, quizzes, discos and
barbecues.
In 2004, the Friends held a Victorian picnic on The Green, and provided a
free mug to all pupils in the school to commemorate
the school's 150th anniversary.
In 2007, the Friends organised an excellent evening of live music with
local bands "Kev Roberts" and "The Irie", complete with party games, and
pie & peas.
The Friends organised a talent
show in 2009 to celebrate Mr Barlow's retirement. This is set to
become a regular event, and a second highly successful show took place
in June 2010.
Also in 2010, there have been numerous other events, including an auction, band
night, and the annual plant sale.
Committee meetings
