Cumbrian Railways Association Field Excursion Spring 2005

TIP: Please click on each photo to see a larger version.

Jonathan Wignall and Alan Postlethwaite ran a Cumbrian Railways Association field excursion to inspect the landscape evidence of some of the rail lines built to serve the Furness haematite mines. The walk took place on Sunday 20th March 2005, starting at the Buccleuch Hall, Lindal. The route included areas north and south of the A590 at Lindal, and also covered areas to the north and east of Dalton. The walk route was carefully planned to allow for a well-deserved lunch break at the Black Dog Inn. Some sections of the walk took place on private land with permission from the landowners.
