Furness Railway D3 Tender Engine No. 9This postcard shows Furness Railway No. 9 at Grange-over-Sands. This tender engine was one of twelve in the 0-6-0 D3 class, all bought in 1899. Numbers 7 to 12 were built by Nasmyth, Wilson & Co of Manchester, and numbers 13 to 18 were built by Sharp, Stewart & Co of Manchester. These were powerful engines, designed for hauling heavy goods.
