Visit Lovely Lindal-in-Furness
Welcome to Lindal. It has loads to offer. It is situated just a few
minutes from the beautiful lakes, mountains and views of the Lake
District. There is a vast amount of various wildlife including the rare
anonymous red squirrel, and don't forget the farm land full of cattle, and
the massive number of hedgerow birds and wildlife. Also if you're here for
wildlife you'll find plenty at Dalton South Lakes Wildlife Park, from
spoonbills to hippos they've got it all. If you're a shopper or a partyer
there are two local towns, Barrow and Ulverston. Also there are plenty of
leisure attractions to visit, so come and visit Lindal with so many things
to do.

Haikus
Spots on their body,
a long neck to reach up high,
and have a nice meal.
King of the jungle,
they give a huge, great big roar,
and eat you for tea.
Chitter chat monkey,
swinging swiftly through the trees,
having lots of fun.

Haikus
My giant grey ears,
and my water shooting trunk,
hear and make noises.
My dog is called Tess,
and my cat is called Smokey,
they are both so cute.
I'm very fierce,
I've got a soft fluffy mane,
I want to eat you.

My Hobby
My hobby is mountain biking. Mountain biking is a hard sport but is
also very fun and I like a challenge. I spend my time doing mountain
biking on weekends, where I do 11 to 14 miles. I usually go to Grizedale.
For my sport I need a mountain bike, a helmet, a roofrack, a puncture
repair kit, a tyre pump and cycling shorts. I became interested in
mountain biking when I was watching it on telly. I thought it looked fun
and had a go at it. My dad helped me most with my sport because he has
helped and encouraged me all the time. In the future I plan to be a
professional mountain biker and win a medal at the Olympics.

Visit Gorgeous Bardsea
Welcome to Bardsea with its peaceful atmosphere and great view. The
beautiful village is set in the Lake District with lots of places to
visit, such as Ulverston, Lindal, Barrow and many more. There is a beach
in Bardsea which you can walk to and go along it for great walks to a pub
not that far away.
Bardsea has a mixed set of people, such as old, young, children, and
middle aged adults. Your children can play at the park next to the village
hall.
If you like big walks then go to Birkrigg where you get excellent views
of the beach and the village houses. The nearby town is five minutes away
with a leisure centre, museums and festivals that come each year. There
are food shops and restaurants with great food. So come to Bardsea and
live in paradise.

Friends
Lord I thank you
for my friends,
who look after me when I'm hurt,

The Magic Remote Control
Darn! It's my birthday. I'm one of the most unlucky kids in the world,
first my parents die in a car crash, I'm living with my Aunt Sludge and my
Uncle Sprot, and I'm being sent to Piranha Street Elementary. The reason I
don't look forward to my birthday is, that as far as my aunt and uncle are
concerned, I haven't got one. When they do remember, instead of a remote
control car, or a computer game, I usually get something like a used
hankie, or a 1 pence piece. Just now, my aunt and uncle are watching a
documentary on the Burmese slug. If I can just sneak down and ...
"ROBERT!!!!", "Yes Aunt?", "Have you been stealing biscuits again?"
shrieked Aunt Sludge. "No" I yelled back. "Don't lie to me, you little
worm! There are crumbs on the table cloth!". "Sorry Aunt Sludge, I won't
do it again". "Just make sure that you don't!" screeched Aunt Sludge. She
slammed the door, and there was silence.
I ran down the stairs and into the garden. I knew it hadn't been me. I
don't even know where she keeps those stupid biscuits! I decided to go
into the garden shed and have a rummage, you know, try to find myself a
birthday present. I strode across the lawn (perfectly mown) and walked
into the shed.
There were boxes everywhere. I walked over to the nearest one, and
began looking. I was halfway through the third box when I found something
odd. It was a control, the kind you use for a video, or a dvd. It was
orange, squashy, and it stank of old socks. Hardly a good present, but it
would have to do. There was a spider spinning a web in a corner. I pointed
the remote at it, and just for fun, pressed the rewind. The spider
instantly started walking backwards and sucked the web back into its bum.
I pressed play and the spider restarted and did everything normally. Just
then, I had a really excellent idea. What if I used the remote on my aunt
and uncle, what if I paused them!
I ran into the house, went to the living room, aimed at my aunt and
uncle, and paused them. They froze.....

Homework's Coming Home
My opinion on homework is half and half. I think homework is stupid in
the way you do at least four hours work a day and then you get homework.
Also the thing is if you have activities it can get in the way and me
myself would rather go swimming, play tennis, read etc than do homework.
The other opinion is that if you want a good job you need extra work
really. Also if you do history, science and so on you can find out lots of
interesting facts, like the moon has crater holes on it. I also think you
should be able to relax after six hours of school.
I think homework is boring sometimes so it should be jazzed up a bit. I
think you should get more homework in SATS etc .... so overall I think
homework is OK.

A Book Review on "Midnight" by Jaqueline Wilson
"Midnight" is a funny book but in bits it's quite sad. It is a book
about a girl called Violet who is mad about fairies. She has loads of
books about fairies. She writes letters to the author and puts them in a
special box. She makes fairies and hangs them from her roof.
At school she didn't have any friends. A new girl came to her school
and Violet made friends with her. Violet made a special fairy for her.
Violet's new friend is called Jasmine. Violet's brother is adopted and he
has a crush on Jasmine. Violet's favourite fairy is the Violet fairy.
There is a really exciting bit near the end and that's my favourite
bit. I couldn't put it down. I recommend it for 10 years and over.
"Midnight" is a good book for girls.

The Stream
The stream...
is a snake pouring, smooth as rustling silk,
a road drifting and shifting through time,
the moor's intestine gut-grinding rock to gravel,
a curve of smoke, a ghost of early mist,
a worm burrowing, eroding its certain path,
a ribbon plaiting tangled strands of hair,
a knotted string of rocks and roots unravelling,
a sentence in the story of water, earth and air.

The Swallow's Story
Hi, I'm Sally the swallow. It's nearly time for my long and truly
terrifying journey, back to South Africa.
My first terrifying adventure
Oh no, look over there, it's the narky ugly very moody cat. I've go to try
and escape him. Over there, there is an open window, if only I can just
fly over and ... I know, I'll throw a stone to distract him. 1, 2, 3,
fire. Now here's my chance, yes I made it but only just.
My second and third fright
I now know what season it is, it isn't spring or summer, it's
autumn. It's getting colder every day and I'm having to put on weight so I
don't freeze to death at night. Anyway it's soon going to be over.
My fourth nightmare
The hobbys over there really big and scary. He's massive and he's a bird
of prey. I'm so sorry but I just can't talk about it. I might not live
from now so listen to my will. Tweet, tweet, tweet, with a tweet, tweet,
tweet, here a tweet, there a tweet, everywhere a tweet, tweet.
My fifth crisis
Oh no, now it's time for my 1000 mile journey over the English Channel.
It's really scary. I've got to do this, so here goes.
My sixth problem
Ah, why can't the weather change. Please weather man, have faith in birds
too. Make it nice and sunny please!!! Sorry about that but I hate all
these storms. Hey, what do you know, it's sunny again. HOORAY!!! I feel
like having a woomy wiggle.
My seventh predicament
I whizzed past the Mediterranean although the weather's awful again, it
keeps pushing on my wings.
My eighth emergency
Too hot, it's just too hot. I need to find water but I can't 'cause I'm in
a hot, hot desert. No, a burning, fire blazing desert.
My ninth scare
I'm so scared now, all these people hunting me and my family and friends.
One of these days I'm going to die and all my friends and family , and
we're, we're, we're going to be extinct.
My tenth horror
The python and the mongoose, my two deadly enemies. They are both ugly and
no way as pretty as me. I, the most beautiful bird in the world, even
prettier than humans. Anyway I've got to do this. I've survived everything
else, so I have to survive this, so here goes. Yes, I made it back to
South Africa. Hooray!!!

South Africa
Visit South Africa, a hot relaxing place with swimming pools and
beaches. In the summer you have a barbeque almost every night (if you're
lucky). Some of the main attractions are sky scrapers, markets and the
beaches. The plane ride is relaxing and you get a TV in the person in
front's seat. The hot sandy beaches get over 1000 visitors a year. The
safari parks are filled with wildlife and some horrible sights. In Cape
Town coconuts and bananas are grown.
